I’ve done this challenge probably for the last 20 years. Daily? No, but at least a few times a week. As a runner and constantly on the go my feet would be exhausted at the end of the day. When I started this I was training for a marathon and while taking a yoga recovery class the teacher spoke of its importance with draining the blood from your feet and legs to redistribute it to your torso and head. I really didn’t pay much attention but continued to do it. Fast forward and about 8 years ago while getting my yoga certification I learned and loved all of the legs up the wall benefits.
Besides giving your feet and legs a rest it also helps lower your anxiety and stress, boosts your energy, improves digestion and gut health, gently opens up the back of your legs (think tight hamstrings) and releases back pain. When teaching yoga to athletes we do this as much as possible. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
